Overwintered outside. Queen is laying eggs in both hives. I hand them over with a heavy heart because I lack the time for them through grain farming.

These 10-frame hives got transferred from outside overwintered hives on May 12th into the wooden boxes. I winter everything in Styrofoam boxes so the transfer was needed. The queens are 2018 and 2019 Manitoba raised queens. Excellent brood pattern and good honey yield. The hives got equalised with 2 to 3 frames of brood and 2 frames of food and pollen. 5 empty frames to grow into. I expect these hives to cover 6 to 10 frames with bees by time the auction is over. All my outside hives carry a very low mite load. The hives are treated with Oxalic Acid in fall and spring. Bee healthy drench in spring and one formic acid treatment 30-grams in spring.

For information text 204-281-1241 or email [email protected]

Since Eckhard’s Apiary is located 3 1/2 hours north of Brandon he is willing to deliver the hives to Brandon to meet buyers.
